Setting Up Windows 2000

  1. Double click on My Computer
  2. Double click on Control Panels.
  3. Double click on the Network control panel.
  4. Double click on Make New Connection. The Network Connection Wizard should come up.
  5. Make sure "Dial-up to the Internet" is selected and click on Next. The Internet Connection Wizard should appear in a window.
  6. Make sure "I want to set up my Internet connection manually..." is selected and click on Next
  7. Make sure "I connect through a phone line and a modem" is selected and click on Next.
    Note: If no modem driver is installed, the Modem Setup Wizard will appear instead of the window above. Make sure the proper modem driver is installed before continuing with these instructions
  8. In this window, enter in 262 for the area code and for the phone number. (The dash is optional.)

  9. Click on Advanced.
  10. Make sure "PPP" is selected at the top and "None" is selected at the bottom.
  11. Click on the Addresses tab and you should see a window like the image below.
  12. At the top, make sure "Internet service provider automatically provides one" is selected.
  13. At the bottom, set it for "Always use the following:". Beneath that are the following fields:
    Primary DNS server In this field type in 66.102.117.6
    Secondary DNS server In this field type in 207.7.4.66
  14. Click on OK
  15. Click on Next.
  16. In this window are the following sections:
    User name Type in your username in all lower case
    Password
    Enter in the password for your AcroNet account.
  17. Click on Next.
  18. In this field you can type AcroNet. This will be the name of the connection to AcroNet
  19. Click on Next.
  20. The next window asks if you want to configure Internet mail. If you select "Yes"; it will take you through the configuration wizard for Outlook Express.
    Note: If you plan on using a different mail program than Outlook Express, the select "No", click on Next, and then click on Finish. At that point, you should be all set to connect to the Internet.
  21. Click on Next.
  22. In this window it asks for your "Display name". Go ahead and type in your name.
  23. Click on Next.
  24. In this window it asks for your e-mail address. Type in username@acronet.net, where username is your username.
  25. Click on Next.
  26. In this window are the following fields:
    Incoming mail server In here type in mail.acronet.net
    Outgoing mail server In here type in mail.acronet.net
  27. Click on Next.
  28. In this window are the following settings:
    Account name Enter in your username in all lower case.
    Password Enter in the password for your username.
    Remember password Put a check in this box if you want Outlook Express to remember the password. Otherwise, the program will prompt you for the password each time you check your mail.
    Log on using Secure Password Authentication This box must be unchecked
  29. Click on Next.
  30. Click on Finish. The configuration is complete and you should be able to log in to AcroNet
